Glad to hear no one has suggested Rikki 'don't lose that number (cos there's no other way you'll be hearing from Duncan Fletcher)' Clarke! Still, I would like to see 'Kaiser' Will Jefferson in there, and someone other than Ian Blackwell. Someone like Paul Franks - though I heard that he was thought to have had a poor attitude on the recent A-tour. So, I'd have to say Mascarenhas or Napier. Ruling out my Essex bias - I'd volunteer Mascarenhas' services.

Macarena is almost a shoe in for the ODIs so he cant get in our kneejerk XI. Blackwells reasonable start and the fact he's very unlikely to play for england in any format means he's in our kneejerk XI.

Gareth Battyboy had a reasonable start and he's not likely to play for England - should he be in?

I was at the Oval for the spectacular one-dayer vs. Yorks the other day, and Ramps' captaincy was unimpressive to say the least - sluggish, inept field changes and no presence on the field. Also Rikki Clarke bowled one of the worst one-day spells I've ever seen - a succession of slow long-hops on a perfect batting strip!

My kneejerk nominations:

Nayan Doshi
Matt Wood
Tim Bresnan
Chalky White (captain)

He hasn't even bowled this season, not even against Cardiff UCCE. Plus, he hasn't batted in the second innings and doesn't look like coming in til about 10 or 11. Add in the total lack of interest the England management have shown in him and he'll be knowhere near the ODI squad.

Flintoffwatch!

Freddy has moved cautiously to 3* from 17 balls - a very circumspect innings.

Blackwell's reasonable start? Lbw 2nd ball for a duck to Napier yesterday? 33, 35 and 21 against Yorks? 4 and 122 against Lancs? I'm guessing there are middle order batsmen out there with better performances so far this season!
