Tremlett 6-44 - Knee Jerk Pre-Emption

After a slow start, Chris Tremlett took 6-44 today against Sussex. Hmm... 6' 7" Seamer. Bet he's in for Harmison by the end of the summer if Ashignton Man continues to chuck down dross.

Nice knee jerk indeed Dave. My top kneejerk is some bloke called Davis who took 6 for Durham.

We must try and work out some sort of kneejerk poll, perhaps daily or weekly.

Tremlett has been mentioned in and around the England set up for a good while now, he appears to be a future England new ball bowler. Not really a knee jerk then.

A good knee jerk would be Michael Yardy, 2 CC centuies this season which just happen to be his 2nd and 3rd first class centuries. Still, not having a first class hundred didn't stop Adam Hollioake's selection.

Mark Davies yea, he's a good bowler but I believe he is a good old fashioned dobber. Has had a series of injuries and illness over the last while, but always does very well when fit.

Gilo would have to be in any knee jerk XI at the moment - another Pfeiffer today!

Eagle, thanks for the link, that's great to watch. So often you never really get to see county hopefuls in action, and have to rely on written reports. Tremlett does indeed look a handful when he gets it right. Lot's of bounce it looks like. All he needs to do is keep fit, and learn to bowl well on flat 'uns.

Cracking caught and bowled by Warnie!

Are there any links to any of the other games at all?

Some of us called for Tremlett to be part of the winter tour squads so that wouldn't be knee jerk. Davies is obviously quite useful, but apparently he makes Mark Ealham look like a fast bowler!! Would he be quick enough or accurate enough to do damage at Test level?

Noooo! Also, it's interesting to note that last season, he had a great first half (ie wet 'n soggy) and then the wickets dried up for the last part of the season (harder, flatter pitches). I think he's a very good county dibbler, a la Ealham, Irani, Saggers, Bicknell et al - not a test prospect.

Come on then, 'fess up! Who's Wheelie Bin2 on the Beeb board? I've tried to get on that message board (against my better judgement!) to join in the suspiciously identical thread to this one, and stick my twopennorth in there and it won't let me on.

They must have cancelled my registration after I was rude to them just before I left!

To be fair to the lad, I think he missed the last six games due to injury. However, I think you're probably right. And unlike Ealham and Irani he can't bat!
