| Weather is helping no-one in England at the moment, it seems. (You should come over here. It is, as Richie Benaud himself might say, a lovely day for cricket. Albeit a bit chilly when the wind blows.) Bangladesh are sitting at Northants watching the rain come down: no sign of a start time there yet. In Southampton, Simon Jones is expected to turn out for Glamorgan against Hampshire, hoping to prove his fitness before the first test, but the start there has also been delayed - inspection at 1310 BST (1210 GMT).

| At Northampton, Northants won the toss and elected to bat, and after 7.3 overs are 37-1, Hossain the successful bowler taking Huggins' wicket for eight runs. In Southampton, I must have got it wrong. Play is expected to commence at 1310 BST (1210 GMT). No team news yet, but hopefully we will see something from the Jones boy.

| Jones is listed; Hampshire have won the toss and will bat. Let's see what Simon Jones is looking like.

| Not sure yet but a certain Mr collingwood is doing his level best to be first choice all rounder replacement. Its at times like this you feel sorry for the likes of him and arguably blackwell who would have walked into sides as allrounders in the past ahead of the likes of ealham, irani, hollioak, capel, pringel etc etc yet find their rway barred by the sizeable frame of freddie Flintoff.

| Lol ..... Blackwell & Collingwood couldnt lace pringle's boots as a bowler - just look at their first-class stats In fact .....neither is an allrounder Both are mediocre batsmen who turn their arm over a bit. |

| Meanwhile, in the two matches I was monitoring, in Southampton, Simon Jones, who got off to an expensive start to his overs, took the scalp of Brown and ended the day on 20-6-49-1 (Hants 197-3). At Northampton, only 34.1 overs were played today, and Northants hardly fielded their strongest side. Northants closed on 149-5, with Anwar Hossain Monir leading the way for Bangladesh finishing on 13.1-2-67-3.

| Granted collingwood is a decent ODI, but to my mind totally overated FC player ( he averages a massive 31 in First class cricket as apposed to pringle's 28) Pringle took 761 FC wickets @26 ....... collingwood isnt in the same stratosphere... Irani FC averages 38 with bat and 29 with ball. Bottom line is methinks the only player capable of fulfilling the arounders role since Botham is Flintoff...... NONE of the others in my opinion are worthy |
