Why doesn't Rob Key have a contract? And Darren Gough doesn't have one either ?

Rob Key ate his at the signing, but Goughie is obviously considered a risk!

Tremlett is the only vague surprise in there. Chris Read over Matt Prior too - a subtle cough and a tap on the shoulder for Geraint, perhaps?

Can you imagine what Jones would say if a journalist pointed this out ?

"Well we've got a great bunch of lads in the dressing room, and the captain and management are right behind me. I'm keen to improve and I'm learning all the time and I'm really enjoying my cricket right now"

In fact the same thing as he normally does........

Zainub,

Key and Gough both have contracts. Tremlett is a good pick...three keepers would have been a bit OTT, I am glad they went for Jones and Read, consistency in selection again, which is not to be criticised.

But they don't seem to have 12 month contracts..just the develpment squad places. Intersting - nor do Pieterson, or Bell, while Butcher does..could be we have written him off to soon!

And does the fact that Thorpe has a 12-month contract suggest he may carry on this winter after all?

Nope, more like some admin error and he'll just pocket the cash ! There is no way he'll tour IMHO, its very long, he's been before (did well admittedly) and would rather put his feet up methinks !

Yep, that was my thought too - can't see any good reason why he'd go on the tour, and much nicer to retire after the Ashes, me thinks...still, interesting he's got a 12 month contract..perhaps the extra dough is he's retirement gift from the ECB!?
