Trescothick retires from England

Think it was pretty inevitable.

But how will he be remembered? Not quite great, but good and occasionally - 219 and 180 v South Africa spring to mind - brilliant.

My fave England batsmen ever since i took an interest in the sport (last decade)

Always looked forward to watching him play, those knocks vs SA were great, remember the ICC trophy too where he smashed around the Aussies + WI (only to lose in the final)

Remember him fondly battering Brett Lee to the boundary time and time again in an over in the Ashes (Englands win) too, great memories.

Ill miss him, but like you said, was now inevitable

I am glad the decision has been made as it means we can now move on but obviously it is sad that he couldn't beat his demons.

He will be remembered as a very good opening batsman in both forms of the game,one of the best we have had in the last 30 years.
