Question Surrey release Tudor

Surrey County Cricket Club have released Alex Tudor with one year left on his contract.

I hope he has the motivation to come back. What counties could he go to?

Kadeer set for Gloucestershire switch

Batsman keen on first-team cricket

Worcestershire batsman Kadeer Ali is poised to move to Gloucestershire on a four-year contract to fulfil his desire for regular first-team cricket.

The Pears chief executive Mark Newton confirmed Gloucestershire had approached the county for permission to speak to Kadeer whose contract expires at the end of this month.Worcestershire have offered the former England Under-19 player a new two-year deal but are virtually resigned to the player seeking new pastures.

Kadeer, the cousin of Worcestershire paceman Kabir Ali, was lined up to replace Anurag Singh as opener for the 2004 season after Singh's departure to Nottinghamshire.

But he missed the beginning of the campaign with an elbow injury and his replacement Stephen Moore never looked back as he completed 1,000 first-class runs in his first full campaign.

"Kadeer's contract runs out on September 30 and Gloucestershire have been given formal permission to speak to the player, explained Newton.

"I have no doubt that a decision on his future will be made by Kadeer in the near future. We have ourselves made Kadeer the offer of a new two-year contract.

"But the stumbling block is first team opportunities. There was a slot there for Kadeer but he got injured and Stephen Moore stepped in and look what happened. That is what happens in sport."

Newton quashed speculation that other players such as Stephen Peters, Gareth Batty and Ben Smith, who quit as captain last month, wanted to leave New Road.

He said, "I've heard the rumours of Peters going back to Essex, Batty back to Surrey and Smith back to Leicestershire but there's no truth in any of them and they are all under contract and things are sorted."

What price he goes to Middx or Essex as he doesn't like going far from home.

Leics, as they're desperate

Notts, cos they sign everyone going

Glam, as they will be missing Jones and Wharf

Close season player movements

Please discuss any post season transfer business in this thread.

The big moves so far appear to be the release of Kirby and Tudor. Aftab Habib may be on his way out from Essex as well. Surely there must be counties willing to take sure well known names on.

Are any of the player releases due to the influx of Kolpak players. For example, if Habib gets released, will it be because of the signing of Grant Flower by Essex?

Darren Stevens was released by leics. I always thought he was a reasonable player so I'd expect him to find a new county pretty soon.

May be interesting to see how many second rate overseas players / koplak players are signed before Tudor

Post Kadeer Ali signs for Gloucestershire

Good move by Kadeer Ali - let's hope he develops his considerable talent and puts pressure on the England selectors for consideration.

He decided to move to Bristol after Worcestershire, where he was on the staff for five years, said they could not guarantee him first-team cricket. "I am delighted to be joining a club with such an impressive record, and it will no doubt help my cricketing aspirations," said Kadeer. "Obviously, it is sad to be leaving Worcestershire, but I feel it is now time for me to move on."

"Kadeer Ali has huge potential, he is only 21," said Tom Richardson, Gloucestershire's chief executive. "Although we are looking very much to be the future in signing him, we believe firmly he can also make an immediate impact."
