RESULT!!! Essex win the Totesport!!

Wow! Essex win the Totesport D1 to win the One Day championship for the first time since 1985! Well done to Ronnie Irani - widely insulted by Essex fans at the start of the season for being a poor captain.

Good work from Jeffo to score 88 runs, followed by a Hampshire batting collapse after Crawley scoring 84 as opener led Essex to an 18 run victory! Great stuff lads! Thanks to Andre Nel and Danish Kaneria.... And even Ryan ten Doeschate contributed again (10 runs)!

Wahey!

Brilliant! Congrats lads. May we win lots of trophies next season too. Do we have a women's essex team too?

Today's just a an awfully good day. First the good result for United away to St James' Park, next the great test at Trent Bridge, and now this.

It's all in the stars as some would say ...

Yes! There's still a chance of County Championship promotion too... Unlikely, but possible.

As for an Essex women's team Zainub... I have no idea how good they are... I know there is one cos a couple of people who play for my girlfriend's team used to play for Essex Ladies Youth.

Brilliant, and the way things have been going I wouldn't rule out any chances of us winning, even if it were only a slight chance. As long as it's not impossible, every thing is possible .

Just had a look at the scorecard, brilliant figures for our Smokey there! 3-26 in 9 and his three wickets all being that of good players : Pothas, Bichel and Ervine . I see he also scored 12 not out with 2 fours. Brilliant! It's so great to see him do well in limited overs cricket, down here in Pakistan, because of Afridi and Malik, and because of his slightly less less agile fielding and bunny like batting he hasn't had that many chances in the Pakistan one-day team. And in the past when he has been given chances he's be taken for a few so hopefully all this will help him in that way too. I'm sure he's gaining in confidence.

Godness Gracious me! I've just looked up some more scorecard and I can't get my self to believe what I saw:

Northamptonshire vs Nottinghamshire at County Ground, Northampton

Younis Khan : 7.1-0-31-3 (Love, Shafayat and Wright)

I can't believe me eyes...he doesn't bowl that often in international cricket, but does have a few fluke dismissal to boast of , in fact has a test wicket too that of Sehwag ...but those figures...they don't look like a fluke - the fact that he actually bowled as many as 7 overs alone says something ...usually he bowls only about 3 or 4 in which he goes for about 20-30 runs at least...and then doesn't bowl for 6 months - this is hillarious, and me likey!

I know it's a cliche Rammy, but its been a real team effort. Good batting from Andy Flower, Irani and Bopara, coupled with some big hitting from ten Doeschate, Middlebrook and (once again) Irani as well as some great bowling from Gough, Adams and Kaneria with support from Grant Flower and Bopara have all contributed. Having a batting order which can have Graham Napier at #9 helps!

Do you think that Cook will get more one day cricket next year or do you think they are doing the right thing keeping him away from slogging - perfecting his technique?
