Well, Darren Lehmann is due back there next summer and they are keen to get a strike bowler as their second overseas option. I suspect they decided to let Phil Jaques go, as they had a gentleman's agreement with Lehmann.

All this means that Justin Langer is free to captain Derbyshire!!

Division 2 will have some very good players and Yorkshire will probably struggle to stay up.

Not a good move by Yorkshire. As good as Lehman is he is getting on and Jaques is nearly 10 years younger.Worcesterhire have got themselves a good one.I thought we would struggle to stay up before but now i think we are certainties to go down.

Not so sure I think Derbyshire are at least turning if not already turned the corner, they are slightly behind Leicestershire in that respect but I would prefer to be following either of those than Surrey at present.

Langer is a serious target for Derbyshire who want to make him captain. This is a brilliant move but I am worried by the fact that he won't make a decision for 6 to 8 weeks (This is why Worcestershire went for Jacques instead). I can see us waiting for Langer, him saying no and then us being left without a quality overseas player.

I just can't see a guy like Langer joining Derbys at the minute, given the position you're in. However, I would love to see it happen and for Derbys to move up the table - you fans are due a break.

Another Worcestershire signing

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cric...re/4315410.stm

With Jacques and Bracken I think Worcestershire will be the team to beat in Division 2.
