| Warwickshire and other teams ups and downs. From all accounts, I believe that Warwicks. were unstoppable last year, why are they not repeating the form this year? Notts Who were struggling in Div 2 recently are top of Div 1, Yorks who ran away with Div one only a couple of years ago are languishing in Div2. I can only conclude that the 2 divisions are not really as reflective of ability as the soccer divisions are. I believe that any team in Div 2 could beat any team in Div 1 on a given day. And visa versa. In soccer the bottom team at the end of the season is usually deserving to go down, not so with cricket. In my opinion , of course. Last edited by lancslad : 07-09-2005 at 10:58 AM. |

| Warwickshire built their title win last season on batting first and scoring huge amounts of runs. This season their batting hasn't been so successful, Mark Wagh''s been injured, Ian Bell's been away with England, Brad Hogg scored plenty of runs at six or seven last season and they've missed him too. Notts haven't struggled in Division Two, full stop. Notts have been the bouncing ball for a few years, a year in Divison One at the bottom follwed by a year in Division Two getting promoted. Yorkshire lost key players: Hoggard and Vaughan to international duty. Sidebottom to Notts, Kirby left for Gloucestershire, Gough to Essex, Silverwood seems to be constantly injured. Their overseas players haven't had the impact Darren Lehmann had and senior players haven't necessarily stood up to be counted. The two teams at the bottom of Division One thoroughly deserve to be there! Glamorgan have only avoided defeat twice all season and Gloucestershire have only won once. Previous to this season most of the teams gaining promotion to Division One had struggled, fortunately Notts and Hampshire both strengthened and other teams in Division One weakened in the close season. |
