The Best County Wicket Keeper of 2005

Well - here's a chance for controversy and to show those darned England selectors who you think should be in line behind Geraint Jones.... Who do you think was the best Keeper in the county season 2005?

That's entirely up to you... The vote is on who you think has performed his role in the team as a wicket keeper best. If his batting means that in your opinion, he is more valuable to the team than another nominee, then vote for him.

In short, who would you want as your keeper, given the opportunity?

Let me see: 60 dismissals and 715 runs @ 44. This is a no brainer! Only Pothas averaged more runs per innings and no-one caught more. Oh, and his team won CC Div One!

I like james foster and he's improved a lot since he played for england, but for sheer class with the gloves that, like jack russell, makes you want to watch the keeper keep it has to be Chris Read.

I am going for Luke Sutton, not just because he payed for Derbyshire but I think as well as his wicketkeeping and his more than acceptable batting his captaincy of the team makes him stand out.

ps It is amazing that not one of the 8 votes so far go with the England coach's view on England's 2nd wicket keeper.

Well as Jones played for England all season I think reluctantly I have to go for Read as the one who has performed best in the CC this year.

I think Prior is a better long term prospect for England and will replace Jones at some point, but Read has performed the best at the CC level this year so I have to go for Read as the best county keeper this year.

BTW as a Durham supporter, I am not a great fan of Mustard so far at least.

Isn't he more of a batsman who keeps rather than a true wicket keeper like the chap you let go (Pratt?)
