| The Best County Overseas/Kolpak Player of 2005 Right, this is the last vote for this year. A strongly contested one for the best overseas/kolpaker during the 2005 season. Once again, this is only open for 21 days. As a matter of interest, the winners of the votes so far are: Best Youngster (under 23) - Alistair Cook (Essex) Best Keeper - Chris Read (Notts) - Defeated Jamie Foster by 10 votes to 6! Best Batsman - Owais Shah (Middx) - Not a sound majority in this case, just defeating Ramps by 1 vote! Best Bowler - Mark Davies (Durham) - Defeated Naved-Ul-Hasan by a margin of just 2 votes! |

| On the bowling front it has to be a toss up between Naved's 57 wickets at 19.92 and Mushtaq's 80 wickets at 26.73: Naved was the outstanding signing in terms of all the conventional measures like strike rate and average... but how can anyone deny the contribution of Mushtaq - he bowled 600 overs in the season!!!!! On the batting front it's hard to look beyond David Hussey's 1231 runs at 68.38: the other major contributions were either div 2 or rather less impressive. I'm inclined to say Naved.... |

It mustn't be forgotten that Stephen Fleming didn't play in all of Notts' matches either. Being Notts biased I had to vote for David Hussey, who probably has the safest hands in the team, apart from Read, and takes some quite magnificent catches at 2nd slip. |

| Forgive my bias, but Hussey performed a miracle here. |

| Gotta go for Dale Benkenstein, he played the entire season in the CC, no ODI's or Tests. Averaged well with bat and ball. Arrived on the scene without a great reputation. If he has another season like last year, next year... |

What about Martin van Jaarsveld? He had a great summer too, can't see him in the poll though! |

http://www.world-a-team.com/showthread.php?t=4180 and van Jaarsveld didn't come up! I'm guessing that although he had a good season, people may have expected more from a recent South African test player? In fact, Justin Kemp and Rob Key got mentioned ahead of MvJ in the batsman of the year nominations: http://www.world-a-team.com/showthread.php?t=4518 |
