Udal still in

Udal retains his place. Simon Jones comes in for Jimmy Anderson, Plunkett is retained.

Anderson is traveling to the West Indies with the A team

A third Spinner will be named closer to the tour. Louden, Panesar and Blackwell are all in the running to be the candidate....

Panesar is most likely to be the candidate from what Graveney said on Sky Sports news

Solanki and Gough left out of ODI squad

Ali, Anderson, Bell and Blackwell are retained...and Jones has been added

Can't believe that Udal is picked again. He isn't good enough so why persevere with him?
Also why wait to announce the 3rd spinner? Obviously not going to be Panesar as he isn't even in the academy team for some strange reason.

Far from it - it appears that Panesar spoke to the selectors at the end of last season and asked what he needed to do to get into their plans. They said that he needed to improve the other aspects of his game, consequently he has spent the closed season at Lehmanns academy working on his batting.

I think this has impressed the selectors and I think they are looking to take him...

I hope you are right as it is fairly obvious that i rate him highly.I just feared that Fletcher's obsession with bowlers who can bat would rule him out.

Solanki's dropping is a bit strange? I've always had my doubts about him but he's been going ok recently for England in one dayers when he's had the chance. Doesn't help that he's constantly being moved up and down the batting order either.

Maybe they're trying to get the Test and One day teams as similar as possible because supposedly that's the best way to have it.

Solanki has been very roughly treated, for a guy that has batted at 1/2, 3, 4, 6, 7 and 8, digging us out of countless scrapes, and fielding brilliantly, as well as offering a bowling option. I don't know much about Bell as a one-day player, but I think it's harsh to drop Solanki.

Yeah, was shocked by Solanki! He did fairly well in the recent ODI's so not too sure why he was dropped.

Is there any reason why England have delayed the annoucment of the 3rd spinner?

So has Anderson who when he played bowled as well as most, and I am surprised to see his ommited in place of Udal.

I suppose a A team tour maybe of help.

But if he goes to India as a 3rd spinner he's not going to get a game. Would it not be better for them to send him off with the Academy?

I'd love to see the guy play for England in India. But realistically I don't think it will happen.
