Shine appointed Cooley Replacement

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cric...nd/4711626.stm

Somerset's Kevin Shine get the job, looks like he has the same background and professional qualifications as Troy, as a youngish guy, you would also hope he can build up the same rapport with the players.

Not often a member of the background team gets such a high profile, but Cooley has played such a key role that he has made it an important discussion point.

In case you don't know much about him:-

He knows about bio-mechanics etc. so that fulfils one of the requirements. I think the main thing will be how our bowlers bond with him and we will see how he can improve them.

Could be confusing if the Taffy Joneses start refering to him as "shine the ball"

I think he is the right man, Darren Gough probably doesn't have the makings of a Bowling coach, yes he is an experienced bowler, but he should get qualifications as a coach with Essex or whoever he plays for currently. Shine has already worked with Kevin Blackwell at Somerset, plus he is expierenced so should do well.

He has been highly regarded for a few years now so i guess it is the right choice.I am happy enough that he is the new guy, still brassed off we let Cooley slip through our fingers though.
