Early tour bonus

Udal has an injury apparently.

Apparently though England, if they do play one spinner - which is likely - will probably go for Blackwell if Udal is unfit, they are worried about Pansesars all-round game - despite him apparently bowling very well in the nets!!

Madness - if Udal is unfit - get Panesar playing!!

I don't really mind which one plays as long as Udal isn't in the team.

I don't like to see players injured, but IMO Vaughan's off spin is as effective in tests as Udal's is. If Vaughan feels confident enough to bowl in his recuperation from injury, then he could support Panesar as the steady bowler whilst Monty looks for wickets and goes on the attack.

Don't forget Pietersen

Get Monty playing...Bob Woolmer has said that England should only go with one spinner in the tests and play with pace. There's no point in trying to replace Giles, the best option is clearly Panesar and I feel we should play him.

Oh goodness me, Pietersen's off spin?! Nooooooooooooooooooooooo! *Has nightmares*

Unless he has secretly re-developed it, I doubt seeing Vaughan throw the ball to him ahead of himself.

No, most likely not. Although Pietersen said he wanted to work on his spin bowling and you never know. He may be the dark horse of the England spin department (**laughs**). You never know

I don't think Vaughan will want to bowl too much...I can't see him bowling more than 10 overs in a 100 over innings.

That's standard part-timer workload, I wouldn't mind seeing him bowl even just a few overs each innings along with Bell and possibly Tresco, who has bowled a few medium pacers in his time. It will really help to rest the quicks, especially Fred.

Can't see Vaughan bowling much more,it could affect his knee even with a spinners run up.

I think that may be the decider, and we may have seen the last of Vaughan's off spin. If it's a problem with twisting that affects his knee, bowling is the last thing he wants to do, especially as off spin requires you to pivot on the front leg - I don't know which is Vaughan's dodgy knee. Udal looked as ordinary as a plain ham butty when we played Pakistan. I'd like Panesar to come in and do well, although I feel Blackwell may offer slightly more with his overall game. Panesar is the long term prospect though. Let's just hope he doesn't fade like other young England spinners a la Scofield and Patel.
