A team players on stand-by

Apparently Big Dunc has puit Anderson and cook on stand by and pulled them from the A team do to our mounting injuries. You are going to get injuries to players who havent played for months - so with a a very short warm up, we;re into a test match with a side of cripples. Word is on the next tour, the first warm up match is against baggage handlers on the bloody runway !

I think we'd need it RBLC. Seems like the new old age for cricketers should be 25!

I think England have made the right choice in getting cover up for the squad. Cook has shown he is on form after getting a century in the first game on the A tour. Anderson does bowl well against quality oposition, well he did against Pakistan in the ODI's. I don't think we'll need Anderson but with Vaughan and KP a doubt I wouldn't be surprised if we saw Cook.

Remember me saying to much cricket was being played?, well after this India tour, how long before the next series?.

Flintoff looks like a cabbage, well burned out.

As for Read - forget it, to play him makes sence, so he won't play, and a player of Read caliber should not be on an A tour in any case, he should be in India.

Having looked at the scorecards, I wouldn't have said there was a form batsman on the A tour, most of them seem to be in reasonable form.

The sensible option is to go for an opener seeing as Trescothick is going home and Vaughan is carrying the injury.Read is hardly a good option to open with Strauss is he?

Second Batsmen

England are calling up a second batsmen from the "A team" to join the squad in India. Link here.

We've had this conversation 1,001 times on the forum. But I think 'batsman' is a word used too generously in Chris Read's case. He can score as many runs as he wants in first-class and 'A-Team' cricket, but I've seen him bat and know he'll never change my mind regarding his calibre. I'll be the first to say I was wrong when he starts scoring heavy test runs, but don't hold your breath!

I'm with you on this one Lemmo! Gareth Batty's scored almost as many runs as Chris Read on the A Tour. Does that mean he should be called up to open the batting in India? I don't think so somehow!

Well Simon Jones just collapsed in the nets with a knee problem.

This is getting ridiculous now.
