It's amazing just how little big event organizers can trust the public for fear that either the crowd will throw things at each other or the players will be attacked.

It's a shame that the general public, mainly due to a few idiots, have forced a lack of trust from event grounds and organizers.

Don't forget that everything that keeps you alive they will be inclined to take off you - it means you have to buy something from their food outlets and let them increase turnover.

It's the same with preventing alcohol being taken to some grounds - fair enough glass bottles are dangerous but I don't think many would argue there were incentives to bar it because then everyone will be purchasing all their beverages from the ground itself.

Can you confirm that you were able to replace those cans from vending machines or officially sanctioned outlets on the inside? As I understand it, this is commonly the case: another good reason to avoid any event large enough to warrant a "promoter".

I'd rather sit on the grass and watch a low level club game: far more rewarding - and hassle free!

Yer, i could go and buy drinks. They don't replace them for free. I saw loads of guys taking cans out, quite a lot of them, and having them taken from them and thrown away. I just had a go at the idiot searching the bags and drank the cans of drink. He said he had to watch me drink the cans and not go too far away with them! lol what *&%^*&%^* idiots

Well the Hants v Sussex game was great last night, probably only because we won though Our (hants) innings was a bit shoddy, very slow, we'd only got about 35 on the board at the halfway point with 4 down so we figured it would be an early night, then thornly, lamby, dimi and shaggy came out and smacked the sussex attack into the stands, went about 15 an over off the last few to get to a poor but better than nothing 112. Sussex came out firing and were winning with ease but then billy taylor pegged them back then dimi ripped out their middle order to give us victory at the death

Have to say though, i thought it was a bit unfair of hants not to turn on the floodlights, for the last 4 overs it was incredibly dark and tremlett was bowling extremely quickly, we couldn't see the ball so god knows what the batsmen were seeing. Brilliant plan between dimi and pothas to get a run out on yardy, pothas stood up to the stumps for the first two balls and made two brilliant stops, really put martin-jenkins off, then on the third he stood right back again, jenkins rushed the shot out of frustration and then just put his head down and ran, leaving Yardy miles out as the throw came back in, top work

On the not bringing stuff in front, I personally find it annoying, but i would say that it is a business and private property so they're fully entitled to expect you to buy stuff from their vendors rather than bring it in with you, you wouldn't turn up to a restaurant with a take-away you'd bought next door would you? It is daft though, if they didn't charge so much for their food and drink in the ground then people wouldn't feel the need to bring their own in the first place.

At a cricket ground you mainly pay to watch the cricket surely? Or at least the main bulk of your total spend is the entrance fee to watch the cricket.

At a restaurant you don't pay to get in - you pay to eat. So, unlike cricket, the main cost is actually paying for your food.

Two very different comparisons where one is taking the core cost from a business, the other only taking a small percentage - especially at test match/ODI costs. That argument doesn't stand up so greatly for me.

A better example would have to be football matches or any stadia event.

I don't know why they charge so much for food and drink, obviously to maximize profits, they could probably charge a lot less and then you are likely to get more people actually buying it.

Derbyshire v Durham: The phantoms have won the toss and elected to bat, so far they have started steadily. After 6 overs they are 1 wicket down and two short of 50 runs. Michael Di Venuto out having given a mini-skied the ball to leg slip! The second wicket has fallen, a certain Gary Pratt makes and excellent run out - diving forward with an under-arm throw.

Yorkshire and Leicestershire are on a par so far: 40-2 after six overs leaves the side pretty even - Yorkshire need to win to boost our chances of going through, we actually have a chance!

I am supporting Durham, apart from the fact I like them generally, but because the fielding legend Gary Pratt is playing. He opened the batting and only scored 4 but he looked brilliant at backward point and he saved some singles just for him being there.

Phil Mustard has practically saved the Dynamos from defeat, at one point needing 90 runs at near enough 12 an over, with his unbeaten half century he has managed to drag the line up to only needing 14 from 9 balls.

What A finish

Durham v Derbyshire - Derbyshire Win by 2 runs.

Phil Mustard unbeaten Half-century gave Duhram hope after being 6-2 at one point. His brilliant batting gave Durham hope. come the last over, Duhram needed 9 runs to win. By the last ball, they needed 3 to win but an attempted cover drive from Greame Onions was caught at extra cover and Derbyshire won the game.

For those who watched throughout the game, well, it was entertainment. I would have backed Duhram to win when Mustard was playing well, but he just couldn't cut it.

In the other games, Leicestershire Foxes edged out Yorksire to put themselves in the quarter finals.
