Top of the (north) table Notts are facing Lancashire today: Fielding a full [with what was available] strength side, including Andrew Flintoff, Lancs have bowled out Notts for 91!

Flintoff picked up figures of 3-0-4-3: He was bowling at what looked near full tilt, of course it is only three overs and the Championship game will really tell us whether he can cope for longer spells.

Young leg spinner batsman Cameron White smashing 141 not out off 70 balls vs Worcestershire, not a bad effort for making that much in a side that scores 198. Wasnt good enough to win but a great innings. Hick was brilliant aswell 97 not out off 49 balls which was good enough to get Worcestershire to victory. Lancashire cruised to victory against Nottinghamshire. Good to see Flintoff on the field.

Cameron White is in nothing short of fantastic form with the bat, haven't seen as much of his bowling though. He hits the ball extremely hard and he also times it very well - not just dependancy upon power most of the time.

It is a shame that Somerset have been knocked out of the competition - White and Langer looked great in partnerships together and both have done extremely well scoring plenty of runs consistently. I think Somerset's first win just might have taken the sides general confidence to a level of arrogance when facing their opposition; maybe not treating them the same as they might have done twelve months ago.

Final league day of the competition today.

Some important games going on, some not so important ones in the bag as well.

Sky are covering Sussex v Essex - Sussex won the toss and chose to bat, 130 was a good score according to Chris Adams (captain) but it played better than he predicted and they managed to score 173-5 after their twenty overs.

Big game in the north league: Yorks v Lancs - Lancs won the toss and struggled to 131-9, Andrew Flintoff top scoring with 47 runs. Yorkshire have batted two overs and are 10-0 currently.

Kent must win to acertain their place in the quarter finals... but have set themselves a big challenge after conceding 217/4 off 20 overs. Amjad Khan got walloped, conceding 53 off his 4 overs.

Tonight's results:

Leicestershire beat Durham by 79 runs, Ackerman made 87 before Durham collapsed spectacularly, with only Maher (55*) and Killeen (12*) making double figures!
Northamptonshire beat Gloucestershire by 8 wickets
Surrey beat Kent by 60 runs (told you it was too many to chase!)
Middlesex won by 9 wickets (!) against Hampshire, who managed only 111 in their 20 overs. Bit too late for Middlesex though...
Notts beat Derbyshire by 9 wickets... no surprises there.
Somerset beat Glamorgan by 13 runs
Warwickshire beat Worcestershire by 11 runs, despite Vikram Solanki's defiant 90 from 50 balls.
Yorkshire beat Lancashire by 7 wickets, Bresnan and Dawson both took 3-24 before Lumb's 84* from 49 balls.
And finally, Essex beat Sussex by 4 wickets, with Ronnie Irani bringing up his hundred off the last ball, the 61st he'd faced.

Which means by my calculations, the quarter finalists are: Gloucestershire, Northamptonshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Essex, Kent , Surrey and Warwickshire.

Yes! Get in! Essex have a decent shot here. Probably the longest batting order for a 20:20 side, a host of big hitters in Irani, Jefferson, Middlebrook, Ten Doeschate, Gough and Bichel and a pretty solid 20:20 bowling attack. Obviously, anyone can win a game on the day so all the quarter finalists have a shot, but for the first season of 20:20, Essex have a decent chance.

Shame I haven't been able to pick up any of the action!

Well the draw for the quarter finals will tell you Chris, and welcome to the forum.

Essex v Yorkshire
Leicestershire v Kent
Gloucestershire v Surrey
Notts v Northants

Lancashire are indeed out - this was guaranteed once Yorkshire beat them today.

Essex easily become favourites for me now - if they make it to finals day I would back them to win the whole thing.

What a shame.Do the double over the enemy and qualify for the quarter finals.Tough game at Essex next round but anything can happen in twenty20.
