Personally I don't think that Stuart "Wonderboy" Broad is experienced enough to go. Sure he's clever and got some good wickets against Pakistan, but Australia is a whole other barrel of kangaroos. Can he play at England Test level? It's a big risk to take against a big team like Australia with the Ashes at stake.

Yes he is not that experienced but he takes wickets and thats what we need. It Doesn't matter if we have say Darren Gough who has bags of experience but takes no wickets or a 16 year old who does take wickets. Personally i would take the 16 year old who does take wickets.

This must surely be a joke?!? Are you talking about tests? Prior is a poor bat and an even poorer wicketkeeper. Read is the way forward

Prior is the best batsmen out of all the English keepers. Maybe he is not the best keeper. But he would do the job. We need a keeper than can bat so put him in and see what he can do.

Best batsman? Not convinced: he strikes the ball cleanly enough... but has he really got the technique and temperament to play second fiddle to a top order bat, giving away the strike with singles and playing low risk nurdles rather than high risk forcing shots? Or the ability to improve with the tail to keep the score moving and retain the strike for long periods with the field set to offer him easy singles early in the over and nothing later in the over?

Foster can do all the above... and Davies has been getting a lot of plaudits - and both actually know what the gloves are for!

Because Read has failed thus far? He's outscored most of the batsmen each time he's batted on his return. What do you want from a number seven?

I disagree, I think young Broad should be in the squad and I truly believe he will be. We need to take him on the tour for the experience and it looks like we will have to go with Simon Jones anyway so we might aswell take Broad just in case someone gets injured.

Everyone wants a Gilchrist now, that's why Jones was dropped and every test number 7 will be expected to score multiple hundreds, whether or not they also happen to keep.
