I quite agree.... but it's an interesting excercise. Take just one case: Mushtaq Ahmed has bowled out of his skin this season. I doubt anyone could realistically challenge Warne for a number 8 spot. You could make a case for the other two bowling spots going to Murali and Panesar!
Just getting that quartet down to two is not straightforward...
I'm not convinced on the "county cricket is easier than Test cricket" front though. Batting against Pakistan in the Test series was surely no more challenging than facing a typical division one side... and bowling against Sri Lanka turned out to be pretty straightforward - certainly not as tough as bowling against Ramps and the rest!!!
As a serious excercise.. can we get 22 players together.... one exclusively from county cricket and the other other also including Test players....
