| Michael Vaughan and The Ashes Vaughan obviously thinks he's bigger than the team as a whole. The guy hasn't even been named in the squad and he's coming out with this rubbish. "At one stage it looked as though it would be the World Cup for the comeback but now I am so ahead of schedule there is a possibility that I may be back in time for the last two Tests." |

| Oh Giles, you know what, I was just about to start a new thread asking you guys about him. Whatever happened to him? Our hero, I may add. Seems like ages since I read anything about him at all. And he's in the Ashes squad? How lovely. But what happened to all the injuries he had, did he not need a hip replacement? When did he recover? |

| Giles is in the squad for the ICC Trophy and Ashes but hasn't played one match all season so i doubt he will do much even if he is picked.I can't see how he will be picked ahead of Panesar in the ashes so he may only play at Sydney and by then he may have found some form. His 2nd operation must have been a success. |

| I really do not understand why giles was picked greg... ahead of monty either... imo that chapter of englands spin was good but its now finished.. time to turn the page, as for the great vaughn comeback i dont know why but i do think he may be back in the ashes, just a hunch

On Vaughan: he's still recognised as the England captain (not least by Flintoff) so I don't see why he shouldn't be talking about the timing of his return - though it will be interesting to see who makes way for him! |

| I really can't see Rachael's Logic, batting Flintoff at 7 just to accommodate a player who is not a one day player even when fit. How anyone can advocate playing Vaughan in front of Flintoff in the pajama game really does beggar belief. Pietersen and Flintoff are bound to be the cornerstones of the England batting. EDIT: This thread is about the Ashes, not the ICC Trophy as I was thinking - even so Vaughan before Flintoff at 7 is still unthinkable.

I suspect his return will depend on how desperate England are... Last edited by Rachael : 06-10-2006 at 05:19 PM. |
