Should Harmison be dropped from ODI's?

Watching Harmison bowl against India & Australia during the ICC Champions Trophy has disappointed me he just seems to not look up to scratch in one day cricket. His accuracy is plainly not good enough and he does not make up for that with any variation apart from a slower ball. Is there a future there for Harmison or is it time to give a young quick his place. The English side seems to act like they don't care about ODI cricket so give a young player a shot.

Any plarer not involved in the England Test set up at the moment.

A few examples. Lewis - Sidebottom - Onions - Broad.

In fact this could be the pace attack.

Drop him for Lewis and just use Harmison for test matches. He isn't a one day bowler.

He is good enough, but the side has dragged him down over time. Multiple batting failures and a lack of decent backup bowling until recently has meant he's had to charge in and try to take all the wickets himself from ball one, resulting on the spraying we've seen more of lately.

He needs a rest, but the problem lies more in the coaching setup than with Harmy. If we get that right we can use him properly - he has more of a threat than the others combined when he is used properly and gets some support from the batting lineup especially.

I think he could be used well opening with Lewis, with Anderson first change. I reject the option of Harmy as first change because you need pace up front. We have seen in the test setup that with Hoggy swinging the ball and Harmy seaming it and getting it to bounce they are a very hard pair to get away. I think Lewis could help Harmy by keeping it tight, and Harmy could play off that.

For now though, he needs a rest and shouldn't play against the Windies, play Lewis instead.

To b fair Harmy has never come accross as a killer on sub continental pitches. He usually seems to peak in conditions with good bounce. Therefore for the CT atleast Lewis would have been a much better option, though i doubt if we wont see a resurgent Harmisons whistling balls past people in the ashes.

Harmison clearly lacks the mental strength to become as good as he should at this game. He has the physical attributes and ability to do what Walsh and Ambrose did yet he lacks their guile and knowhow. When the chips are down Mr Harmison is nowhere to be seen. As soon as things begin to look tough he fails miserably. He should be good at this one day game lark and occasionally he is very good. The rest of the time he is plain awful.

A side note: many suggested that Freddie would be The Man to get the best out of his best buddy. Can we reconsider this, please??

No one would have got the best out of Harmison in one day cricket, and away from home.

But I also agree with what greg said earlier, although Harmison is not a one day bowler, the rest of the side is dragging Englands best Test players down.

Will those who disagreed on the numeous occasions I have suggested that Test players should be divorced from one day cricket, not reconsider this - please?.

No save Harmison for Tests. Play Lewis and see how he does in the VB series. Tremlett should be the reserve. Plunkett and Broad need to play another season in county cricket first.
