Giles stands for everything I hate about cricket. He only belongs to the moist soil under the cloudy skies of England against the likes of West Indies etc. Boring, very ordinary player. Panesar is on another league.

Panesar will bowl in the next game if England bat well tommorrow in the tour match. Now no offense to Giles, hes served us well but his time has come, we have a bowler who can do what Giles did, just more economically. Monty's figures tell us themselves: 25-6 66-1. Economical and dangerous, especially on a worn pitch. Now Monty just nees to get some batting form and he will beat Giles. No doubt, Giles has looked Englands 4th best batter so far in this series, but hes coming to an end. He got nothing out of the pitch last test match and got hit all over the place by the Aussie batsman.

Panesar should be included anyway, if he does nothing in the 3rd test, then we'll just go back to Giles. Anyhow, I always have believed Panesar was the more attacking choice and by playing Giles in the 1st test, we were showing our negativity and lack of trust in our batting line-up, which flopped as a result of not being believed in by their coach.

well my argument is still that we were supposed have Giles in the team because of his batting/fielding skills (which Panesar doesn't have) and Giles can hold up an end, and he failed in every category. 27 when there was zero pressure on him, nothing when there was. Dropped Ponting, and he's supposed to be the better fielder. Didn't hold up an end and Australia just swatted his slow deliveries away. I don't care if the next Test pitch is a "seamer's paradise" you'll need at least one spinner to turn to some time in that game, might as well be the Turbanator.

It's a question of what you wanna see....do you wanna see this:

or this:

Hang on a minute didnt Monty catch someone yesterday and run somebody out today? His fielding so far is better than Giles' on this tour.

I believe Panesar also dropped someone today! Let's not get carried away: Giles is a pretty good gully fielder (kicked out in the deep because Bell had been groomed to replace him in that role) and Panesar (even with corrected vision) is still of the Tuffers school of athleticism.

I wasnt being too serious about Panesars fielding, I'm aware that he could be a liability in the field but to use a Fletcherism at the moment Panesar brings more to the party than Giles currently does.

Fletcherism? Isn't that the religion of Fletcher?

It took all of 7 balls to end this discussion forever.Well done Monty.

The Wheelie Bin can be discarded to the cricketing dustbin now.

You must remember that Giles and Paneser have similar bowling records after 10 tests (30 wickets @ 30 odd average).
Giles could well feel aggrieved that he was forced to bowl for his cricketing life on a slow Adelaide heartbreak wicket, while Paneser got to bowl to secure his place on a quickish bouncy Perth wicket.
While Paneser failed to get much dip or spin, he did manage to take advantage of some foolish Aussie batting.
Even if he hammered for the rest of the test for no more wickets, he still has done better than Giles so Panaser is the winner.
Won't see Giles for the rest of this series i think

Difference though Seamer is that Giles got most of his wickets by boring a batsman out firing it in on leg stump.Monty gets wickets bowling an attacking line.

Also when has Giles got wickets against Australia?
