It wouldnt surprise me if the decision has already been made (assuming Fletcher stays in charge).

One thing i can say, is that it wont be Read!

I think you might be right there. Whoever it is will play under enormous pressure. I think in the end that affected Jones's batting.

I dont acctually think that he is good enough to be an international cricketer, especially as he had 31 test matches and scored 1 test hundred, that just proves he isnt good enough, i feel they wont use jones fletcher must be feeling pretty let down, after the ashes mauling so i think, which may be disasterous and try enixon in the test arena because they always said they wont a kepper to play bith forms of the game, i belive nixon to be good enough for ODI's but he isnt talented enough in the test arena, i thnk we will see three differnt keepers this year it will be suprising though who will get it, there really are 5 people in the running(some stronger than others mind you) so it will really heavily on early season form, i would lke to see notts help read get the gloves back, by promoting him up the order

He (assuming you mean Jones) has played 34 Tests and has more centuries to his name Warne, Muralitharan, Lillee, McGrath, Marshall, Ambrose and so on... so are you suggesting none of them were good enough to be international cricketers either?

Perhaps the selection criteria for bowlers should also be batting... because Imran, Botham, Hadlee, Wasim and the rest raised the bar and showed that it wasn't enough to merely bowl brilliantly.

That is an absolutly stupid comparsions, they were some of the best bowlers they didnt have to score runs because they took somany wickets, what I am trying to say is that Jones is only adaquet with the gloves, meaning he needs to offer something else, such as runs and in 31 tests he has more than a chance to score a couple more test hundreds then one, the thing is he is not even scoring regular fixtures, i cannot the comparison you are trying too make

Jones' batting is not hideously bad, he just isn't quite international quality. Then again, neither are Nixon or Prior for that matter, and I feel Jones' keeping is superior to those two as well.

I don't understand what you meant by he's not "scoring regular fixtures" EllN; when he was first dropped by England he walked straight back into the Kent side (much to my annoyance), came back and is now touring Papua New Guinea with the MCC. He's playing more regularly than I do mid-summer for my club!

agreed, Davies for me, i like a few that arent chosen, Foster/Davies for tests imo, and Prior for the one day games.
