Nixon barks like a German Sheperd, bites like a poodle.
That catch he dropped should be his last chance.
My mum could have taken that one without gloves.

I would have Jones in for the ODI because he can last through the ODI games with out messing up to bad. Read maybe be a decent keeper but he is not a good enough batsman.

I cannot belive you belive gerraint jones to be good enough to be a player for england, at least nixon offers energy, read keeping ability and foster experiance yet gerraint jones, has had many chances his last best odi innings was in 2005 against the aussies, we are now in 2007, he is just not international standard as far as I'm concerned.

He is a better batsman than Nixon who looks like he doesn’t have a brain in his head when he is holding a bat and consistently trys to reverse sweep to two fieldsman, Read is more hopeless than Panesar with the bat. I actually rate Panesar with the bat for a lower order blocker.

Based on what? I don't even think Monty's Mum would suggest that.

As i have already stated read averages under 20 in the odi s and tests which reali isnt a good contribution, and monty's shown in the past he can hold it together, he's slog sweeped murali, fended off a decent india attack to see colly to his hundred last winter.

As everyone else can see we have one with first class hundreds to his name and another with one six against Murali slogging at the end of a Test match. In no sense is Monty as good a bat as Read. These suggestions from England fans that Read is a number eleven bat (or words to that effect) are ridiculous. Are they trying to show everyone else how little they know about the game? Chris Read is not a Test number seven bat but he sure isn't as bad as is made out.

Nixon's constant wittering from behind the stumps just became a topic of conversation on TMS. Gus Fraser was asked how he responded to that sort of thing as a bowler: he replied that he just tuned it all out. In a very dry tone he noted it's "nice" to know the guy is "happy"...

The wittering behind the stumps shows energy behind the stumps, that can lift a side at the lowest point, and constant wittering can get in to a batsman head, also i was not comparing monty and chris read with the bat.

Hussey was happy with Nixon and his attempt at sledging in one match we lost. He said it inspired him. Every time Nixon had a go at Ponting he hit a 4. As a bowler I wouldn't be very happy.

Then we have Nixon telling Panesar to bowl it fast and flat and the commentators wishing Panesar would toss it up and bowl slow. I think Nixon is preventing Panesar from getting wickets by his advice. He was also advising Vaughan and Fletcher. Now we have players that have no experience in playing reverse sweeps all having a go and getting out.
