| Dalrymple really did start well last summer but his bowling performances have gown down hill. I'm not sure he's a good enough batsman to get into the side but he does field very well too.
Often all-rounders are selected because they are currently excelling at one discipline. Ealham was a good enbough bowler at the time to play without taking into account his batting. Freddie at present is offering little with the bat but his bowling has really become something very good.
One thing that really struck me (again) yesterday was the dismissals. Both Joyce and Bopara reverse sweeping and what was Dalrymple doing? They should all look at how the best teams play. How do the better ODI batsmen play? Was the best method of playing the might of Codrington to reverse sweep him? Is he so good that we have to resort to such premeditated strokes to score off - someone who wouldn't get a game with a County side??? |
