It's the only direct indication of his strength against India however Quagmire. That tour, as well as the England tour to India last year, would be used to back up Dravid's form against England so it's only fair to use it is some indication of Vaughan's confidence against them. I don't see him repeating the average but I think he does like playing India and will do pretty well again.

I think that we will see a run feast for both sides in that series as neither attack looks that great.

I'm a bit miffed about how Ponting ended up behind Pietersen when Ricky won the "World Cup"
Another one of those useless rankings that don't matter unless they go a bit more in depth about the opposition faced, where and the importance of the match (round 1, round 2 or final).

Because winning the world cup doesn't improve your rankings. And Pietersen has to play against the best team in the world which Ricky cannot do. KP's record against you in ODIs is quite good, too. As it is against South Africa who are probably ranked second.

I don't agree with the rankings in that they have KP being better than Ponting, which obviously isn't true. However, compiling these rankings and weighting them is extremely difficult and also a very in-exact science. Maybe in twenty years they'll get there but I doubt it, someone will always find reason to complain about them (not you Acker) as we are all less than objective letting personal biases cloud judgement.

That's exactly what the ratings do... they do weigh things like opposition faced as well as the overall context of the match. Things like round 1 vs round 2 etc are difficult, in fact impossible to model so they are ignored - in any case, a hard-fought 80 against Australia on a difficult pitch in round 1, is probably worth more than a breezy 80 against a depleted/demoralised side in the Semis or Final..!
