Pietersen is still #2 despite not performing particularly well recently? Interesting...

Glad to see Anderson shooting up the rankings as he's improving all the time. Flintoff's ODI bowling is also great. His batting, on the other hand, leaves much to be desired!

Bell and Cook - also good to see their rise in ODIs.

Thanks for the updates.

Please tell me I'm not the only one confused as to how the likes of Jones and Joyce can go up the rankings despite not playing?!?

That makes the rankings of no use at all surely?, in a lot of cases players are not just standing still - they appear in the ranking even though retired.

So this would mean the top team in the world at present looks something like...

Hayden, Yousuf, Ponting, Kallis, Hussey, Pietersen, Sangakarra, Clark, Ntini, Steyn, Murali.

Well.. it's not quite that simple.. simply because if you pick the top 6 batsmen it's easy to get a decent 5th bowler.. but tougher to get two openers. In addition... there's no seperate rating for glovemen: what matters for stumpers is class behind the stumps... and Sangakkara's batting ranking is neither here nor there.

The best you could do with an obsession on rankings would be this:

1. Hussey
2. Khan
3. Ponting
4. Pietersen
5 Yousuf
6. Kallis
7. Read
8. Clark
9. Ntini
10. Steyn
11. Murali

Eleven great speciaists... and an AWESOME tail

What a shock no place for Hayden.

Probably a bigger shock is the fact you left out Ramprakash.
