| He must be stupid or something. Can't he realise that his position in the one day setup is not needed? |

| I don't think he's stupid, but I do think this is a misguided comment. On the other hand, when Vaughan said it Fletcher was still in place. Listening to Jonathan Agnew on the BBC website at the moment, and he is suggesting that the decision to announce Fletcher's departure was only taken late last evening Barbados time. Vaughan might well want to re-consider his position now the coach has made it clear that he is off on Sunday. I fear that, if Vaughan does not stand down now, at least in the ODI format, he might find himself swept aside by a new broom. Somehow I can't believe that this is the last we will be hearing on this, and maybe not even the last thing this weekend.

| Vaughan is staying to look for more positives in English cricket. He has been finding them all over the place in the Caribbean, even if he could not find runs. In fact, he is in danger of being charged for excess baggage if he returns to the UK with all those positives that he has collected. ![]() |

| What annoys me is Vaughan deluding himself that he deserves a place in the ODI side on his captaincy alone. Maybe England could afford to bat effectively a man short (which they have been doing these past two months) if his captaincy in ODI's was outstanding rather than what it is - uninspiring. My guess is, whoever becomes the next England coach (and new selectors if Graveney and Miller get the bullet) will drop him from the ODI set up like Steve McClaren dropped Beckham when he took over the England football manager's position. The alternative would be constant pressure from the media to axe him. Vaughan might even get dropped from the test side if his form doesnt improve and the new coach is of the opinion that players get selected on current form rather than past glories. Interesting times ahead, methinks. |

| Vaughan should go altogether, he's a weak link in both forms of the game. With a new coach we should have a new regime altogether. New Captain, New Coach, New Chairman of Selectors. |

I agree with that completely. |

| I'm with Greg. Either Michael Vaughan retires from ODIs or he will be fired from them. There are no other options. If he's not man enough to take one of those options without spitting the dummy and retiring from test cricket in a huff, he's not man enough to be captain in either form of the game and should go anyway. I think, given time to reflect, (and he's got about a fortnight), he'll realise that he's through as a one day player but that he is still the only captain we have for tests and a bloody good one at that. And he should be proud enough to continue wearing the whites while he's fit enough.
