From all I've read spoken by people associated with him Moores appears to an excellent choice. One concern I do have is that until the Schofield report is published there will be no likely change to the selection committee (other than Moores replacing Fletcher). This report is expected mid to end of May, after the 1st and possibly 2nd tests have been played. I don't believe any great team changes are required - although the wicketkeeping position is one area that needs addressing. However, how much latitude Moores will have to bring about changes he may feel are necessary with the old guard of Graveney and Miller still present is open to question. This on the assumption that the report advocates their replacement.

I'm failry sure that the ECB considered everyone in cricket who might conceivably have been intetested or useful to them. It's not as though there is an infinite number of people who would meet their selection criteria. I suspect they know that Moody is off to WA. They probably considered Dav Whatmore, John Wright and Greg Chappell. Are any of those better than Moores? Who knows. Moores doesn't have the international cricket experience. When Fletcher got the job he hadn't played for years and eve then it was for Zimbabwe before they played Test cricket. The Aussies have appointed a Pom with no Test experience, who cares?
