James Foster

Christopher Lyles' County Roundup in today's Observer notes "an outstanding wicket-keeping display by James Foster".

Particularly to the bowling of Kaneria, who elicited bounce and turn from the surface.
I somehow doubt that his performance was even close to that of Guy, who I thought I'd seen ona Yorkshire scorecard this season... but (sadly) Guy seems no closer to being first choice for his county

Guy can't bat, doesn't matter how good the glovework is if you don't get runs as a keeper you are a wasted player these days.Look at Chris Read for England as an example.

He's got an unbeaten first class half-century to his name

Seriously.. Guy should have been an early academy intake (when he was 21-22 rather than now he's 28) so that the good and the great could work out a way for him to contribute with the willow.

Better than than take in Prior and hope to create a gloveman out of him

You are along the right lines there, but if we are to take our coaching seriously in this country his batting should have been seriously worked on from the age of 18, then by the time he's 24 his batting should have been more than respectable.
