Won't happen Ern, no matter how much we implore the selectors to do so; same goes for Ramps.

Taunton has to be arousing suspicion within the ECB, surely? There'd be more of a contest between bat and ball on an airport runway! Every Somerset bowler (except Langeveldt) went at more than 4 an over - and that's against Derbyshire, something is definately up.

Surrey 34-6 close of play, could be over tomorrow.

I am afraid I have to agree - what a difference Butcher and Ramp's would have made this winter IMO.

I feel so sorry for poor Andy Caddick (at his age) having to spearhead the attack on a track like Taunton. I think it tells you how good a pitch is when Derby of all sides can score 800+
It used to be said that the worst job to have in England was either the England football manager or Prime Minister, I however believe the worst job to have in England is an opening bowler for Somerset!

Matthew Hoggard is helping put Yorkshire in control against Hampshire,he has put on 130 with Younis Khan and Yorkshire are currently 164-2 with Hoggy 52*.
Somerset are recovering well against Derbyshire 231-4 now.

Lancashire are making a meal of beating Surrey 8-2 chasing a paltry 90 to win.

Its all going a bit crazy at Old Trafford...

Surrey somehow managed to get to 120, and Lancashire are making a meal out of chasing. They need to get just 90 runs to win, and are 8 for the loss of 3 wickets.

Law out for one, can Surrey pull off a very big win?

Hoggy, Hoggy, Hoggy! 57 not out now, his third first class fifty ever and only currently 32 behind his career-best of 88*!!! I knew he could really bat!

Not to mention, Warne and Clark are bowling at him, no mean feat to score fifty against those two if you're a bowler. I'm gripped.

Edit - Damn, out for 61. Still, pretty heroic from the Hoggster!

Nice to see Younis Khan get in the runs for Yorkshire today, also Graeme Hick looking on course for yet another ton on his record, just when I was starting to think this was a year too far in the career of the great man!

Hi AWW, I've seen your welcome post but hadn't responded. Welcome. It's interesting that you're a Yorkshire and Hants fan. Who are you supporting in this game?

Younis really has started to play well after the ordeal he and the other players went through at the World Cup and immediately afterwards at home. Maybe county cricket is just the distraction he needed.

I really can't believe how bad we have been this season, another very poor result...staying up could be a Struggle for the brown caps this year...
