Seems that Cook has been tearing into Monty's bowling, last time I checked he was going 6+ an over! Good to see Vaughan making first class runs for Yorkshire, and with him and Younis Khan in we'll hopefully see something a bit freer in terms of batting than Joe Sayers' latest crawl, which ended after he had made 17 from 70-odd balls.

Notable performances so far: 1) Michael Vaughan made 72 before being run out against Hampshire. 2) Alistair Cook made 132 and continued his outstanding start to the season, carting Monty who got revenge by dismissing Cook. 3) Simon Katich welcomed his sacking from the Australian squad by making an as-yet-unbeaten ton for Derbyshire. Oh, and Gordon Muchall made 4 against Durham University whilst most others made considerably more. Wake up Geoff Cook!

And Samit Patel is following his 89 and 176 against Gloucestershire last week with 91 not out against Glamorgan. A man with a bright future. Last edited by Notts Exile : 02-05-2007 at 03:50 PM.

Kent recovered to 368 all out, Mushtaq Ahmed was expensive while Walker and Yasir Arafat hit centuries. Geraint Jones hit 49 to begin the revival. Martin-Jenkins took a five-for, before Arafat took two quick wickets to leave Sussex 19/2 at stumps. Looks as though it's a dead track at Canterbury, as usual. ![]()

| Warwickshire 385/5, after a shocker start. With both Westwood and Maddy gone very early, Trott, Troughton, Loudon and Ambrose all came back fighting. Praise to Troughton and Ambrose who hit centuries, with Ambrose 110 * and Streak 7 *

Sussex 96-8. What a turnaround by Kent as they were hammered by Sussex a fortnight ago, good job this isn't Pakistan v Bangladesh as there would be an inquiry into the sudden change of form.

Another score of 800 on the cards at Taunton, Katich must be beginning to think that he missed out only getting the double hundred now.
