Now Mahmood's injured...

http://content-uk.cricinfo.com/count...ry/296717.html

Woo. At least it means he cannot ruin himself in the Test arena for the next six weeks, although it is another England quick bowler under the knife. If only we could find a fast bowler, in form and not injured - we'd start looking world class!

Fletcher's old list of bowlers which Moores has added one bowler and might be adding more.

1 Harmison - wonky radar
2 Hoggard - groin (should be ready for 4th Test)
3 Jones - knee (hopefully playing this weekend)
4 Plunkett - wonky radar
5 Sidebottom - The only bowler who looks 100% fit and firing.
6 Mahmood - groin (ready to bowl in 6 weeks time)
7 Anderson - looking for rhythm
8 Broad - knee - coming back tomorrow
9 Tremlett - back - has returned to bowling, looking for rhythm
10 Lewis - ankle - back end of June
11 Onions - waiting for a call up.
12 Smith - not enough experience yet
13 Khan - knee - out for last season, heard nothing yet
14 Footitt - with Sidebottom in England team has a chance with the 1st XI

From a long Ashes series, followed by the Tri Nation series, followed by the longest Pj competition ever with this World Cup - no wonder players are dropping like nine pins.

No 15. Flintoff. That third operation to his left ankle has him out of cricket for the rest of this season, right?

Not according to David Graveney, who reckons he'll be back playing for England in all forms of cricket before the end of the summer. See BBC report here.

Mahmood injured? The best news that England could have had for a while. There must be at least a dozen other young county bowlers better than him waiting for their chance. I can't imagine what Mahmood was doing in the team in the first place.

Well let me tell you what Mahmood was doing in the team "His Best" against the Aussies, not getting easy pickings from a weak West Indies side.

And if there are a dozen other county players, who are the ones with genuine pace? - and why have they not been selected?.

Mahmood will improve.
Some ODI bowlers tried - they look great in county cricket but when they face top quality batsmen like Jayasuriya, Gayle, Smith, Gilchrist, Hayden it is a different story.

Kirtley - 53.44 econ 5.25
Sidebottom - 42.00 econ 6.00
Silverwood - 40.66 econ 4.78
Hoggard - 36.00 econ 5.29
Tudor - 34.00 econ 6.42
Harmison - 30.70 econ 5.05
Jones - 39.28 econ 4.74
Ali - 34.10 econ 6.08
Tremlett - 44.16 econ 5.01
Bresnan - 84.50 econ 6.76

The ones that worked
Wharf - 23.77 econ 4.39
Lewis - 25.70 econ 3.99
Johnson - 21.72 econ 3.56

That's so true - playing for a county against another county side, is not the same as bowling to Hayden - Ponting, and the players you mention, the gulf is enormous.
