Its good to see that they have finally given Mascaranas a go and have recalled Cook. Other than that no real surprises.

I'm surprised at the inclusion of Jon Trott, certainly no-one on here had championed his inclusion. Pleased at the selection of Prior ahead of Nixon (still don't understand why he was selected for the A Team game yesterday). Not sure I understand what Yardy has done to warrant a return. And Plunkett is back, surely he should be staying with Durham to work on his action?? Mascarenhas is a good pick, about two or three years too late though!

With Mascharenas i guess it is better late than never,Trott i don't know much about but Moores obviously does and the rest is about what i expected given the injuries to Flintoff and Bopara who will surely be longterm candidates when fit.

Good squad overall and i hope we improve.

i'd have picked almost anyone aheady of yardy (what's teatimefatcat doing? is he available? I'd pick him ahead of Yardy!).
Seriously why not Martin-Jenkins? too old now?

So we see the new broom start to sweep away the ashes of dispair and replace it with the banana skin of fate.

When Flintoff comes back and Bopara, they'll go straight in and we'll never know how good these 'replacements' were.
Goodbye Nixon, good job, but thanks.(hurray ! he gets up my nose!)

Probably deserved a chance a few years ago,but Mascharenhas possibly deserves it more than RMJ.

Yes Richard. I cannot believe that Yardy made the team. I dont think he would even make Zimbabwe's team. At least they got rid of dalrymple.

As for Trott, I said before that he would make England. I am very disappointed. This guy, learnt his trade here in CT. I played against him and everyone said he would play for SA one day. What happens, he turns his back on his country and once again England benefit. I just hope that he does not say bad things about SA like some other idiot. Well, Another good player lost , next we will probably see Vaughn van Jaarsveld or McLaren in an England shirt. Very disappointing. I believe that if player learn their trade in a country, that they should only be allowed to represent that country. Whats the use we train the guys and they end up playing for England.

I can understand your frustration GF. Trott has always had a British Passport so as long as he completed his residency period he was always likely to be selected for England if he perfromed well enough. van Jaarseveld and McLaren are both Kolpak players therefore have no links to the UK whatsoever. I would be very disappointed if any of those were ever selected, in exactly the same way as I would oppose Pothas ever playing for us. KP and Trott are different in that they evidently had a British parent or grandparents.

I'm cool with the squad - not sure on Trott - I'd be looking for an 'exploder' at the top of the order (Loye, Benning, Benham, Mustard etc) but hey ho! Dmitri is a good pick and not too late - he's my choice for 'surprise star of the summer' - also expect Shah to come again and surprise us all.

Yardy is an interesting call, but I think he's there to do the Dalrymple job and he has some sort of form.
