Right, this is a pure wind-up

. First you put Hick in the same category as Hayden, Now you are comparing Hayden to Roddick! If Roddick had even come close to achieving in tennis what Hayden has in cricket, it would be a fair cop, but he has'nt.
How many times did Sampras, Agassi, Becker ect win on clay? Does that lack of success on those conditions mean they were not good at tennis? No, everyone has their weaknesses. Even Bradman struggled against the quality pace of Larwood did he not?

Hayden for many years was rather circumspect when playing balls short of a length outside off. By necessity, he was eventually forced to address this issue, but the fact he had the dicipline to play in this manner belies your above statement. Hayden is not all bash and crash. He also has a subtle touch when required and is more than willing to go into defensive mode if needed. Think back to his ton at the oval in 2005 and their is an example of a grafting, fighting Hayden employing subtlety rather than brutality.
I know the type of batman you like Rachel - guys like Kattich for example. You showed great faith in his abilities during his time playing tests, but history shows that it was Hayden, not Kattich, that had the goods.
