Referral experiment scrapped in country cricket

The experiment under which players in televised matches were allowed to refer umpires' decisions for review by the third umpire yielded just under one reversed decision all season. So the scheme has been scrapped. Three cheers from me for that: one of the surest ways to undermine the umpire's authority has been kicked into the long grass.

I also dont think there will be any tears shed over this. Firstly as OF said it undermined the umpires (IMO it can never be a good thing for a player to question an umpires decision) and secondly the third umpire nearly always backed his colleague anyway.

Its also interesting to note that for the FP trophy next year I believe the ECB have implemented ODI rules governing powerplays and ball changing. This should be good for the game because i've never undertood why domestically we play under one set of conditions and for internationals we play under another.
