England V SA Fantasy contest

This is an attempt to run a fantasy contest.

Three contests
1 ODI only
2 Test only
3 Test + ODI combined
You can pick one team only.

Squads

England squads from
http://www.cricinfo.com/db/ARCHIVE/2...ENG-SQUAD.html

Test SquadOne-Day SquadSouth African squads

To be confirmed but a start would be to look at who went to India

Test
*Graeme Smith
Hashim Amla
Zander de Bruyn
Boeta Dippenaar
Andrew Hall
Jacques Kallis
Makhaya Ntini
Charl Langeveldt
Justin Ontong
Robin Peterson
Shaun Pollock
Jacques Rudolph
+Thami Tsolekile
Alfonso Thomas
Martin van Jaarsveld

Mark Boucher
Herschelle Gibbs

I'll confirm the squads for South Africa as soon as I know more. Any pointers would be welcome.

Who do I consider all rounders?

Andrew Flintoff
Paul Collingwood
Shaun Pollock
Andrew Hall
Jacques Kallis
Lance Kluesner

Does this seem fair? If I've made glaring omissions or errors of judgement please let me know. I hope I've got this aboout right.

By the way, just found this list on the internet, so this may help those SA fans think about possibilities in the squads

South African contracted players.(2004-2005)

1 Paul Adams, 2 Nicky Boje, 3 Mark Boucher, 4 Boeta Dippenaar, 5 Herschelle Gibbs, 6 Andrew Hall, 7 Jacques Kallis, 8 Lance Klusener, 9 Neil McKenzie, 10 Andre Nel, 11 Makhaya Ntini, 12 Robin Peterson, 13 Shaun Pollock, 14 Ashwell Prince, 15 Jacques Rudolph, 16 Graeme Smith, 17 Martin van Jaarsveld, 18 Monde Zondeki. (cricinfo)

Once I have some idea of a concrete list for South Africa test ond ODI's I'll post it.
Until then if you want an early pop use the individuals on this post.

A click on the underlined names gives information on these players if the link works.

Rules
You can choose any 11 players from the squad list as long as you choose
5 batsmen
1 All rounder
1 keeper
4 bowlers

No substitutions (I'm really too busy!)

Rules

Scores
like this

Appearance +1

Fielding:
Each catch taken +5
Each stumping +20

Bowling:
Each wicket taken +30
Each 5 runs conceded -1

Batting:
Each run scored +1
Each duck -30 (does not apply to players listed as bowlers)

Your captain will score double points (including minus points) at all times.

I run the scores on an Excel spreadsheet on my computer so if you want a copy, let me know.

How do I pick a team?

Study the player list above and choose 11 players. You must choose:

5 batsmen
1 wicket keeper
1 all-rounder
4 bowlers

A player can only be selected once in your team. You can choose as many players from one country as you like.

You must nominate one player from each chosen eleven to be your captain, who will score double points.

Rules.
  1. Only one team per player. Think about your selection.
  2. Teams must be selected like this.Your team must come from the list( see above) . 11 players (5 batsmen, 1 All rounder, 1 wicket keeper, 4 bowlers). You must also choose a captain within these 11 who scores double points , including MINUS points.
  3. Submit your team by PM to me or post on this thread by the 15th December. I won't accept teams after this time.
  4. After you have PM 'd me your team, you may also wish to post your team on this thread to stimulate discussion, laughter, debate et al.
  5. Scoring willl be as outlined in this thread.
  6. The winner will be the team(s) with the most points at the end of the game.
  7. The prizes are warm glowing feelings, plus bragging rights.
  8. This contest is limited to 50 teams on a first come, first served basis.
  9. Anyone who cheats will be disqualified from this competition (and possibly from future competitions) .
  10. WAT has the final word. Period.
  11. I/Admin reserves the right to amend these rules/cancel the competition .
  12. You must indicate wich contest you want to entre, Test only, ODI only or Combined.
Any questions can be posted below or PM'd to me.

Jenko ! Nice to see you, I'd thought you've been abducted by aliens. I'll try to remember to sort a team out today.

I don't mind which competition it runs in. Actually, with Vaughan, Key, Thorpe and Hoggard this doesn't look a good team for the ODIs, so I'll go for test only.
