Suggestions for WAT fantasy cricket

Due to Richards efforts with his fantasy cricket games I feel enough interest has been generated to warrant its own forum. I believe it does enhance the community spirit on this board and I'd like to develop a proper FC module on this board to allow anyone to start and manage a FC game.

There are already many good FC games on the internet so I need your input as to what features you think our game should have. Interactive features like transfers could complicate the design and management a lot so try to suggest features which are absolutely necessary to make the game interesting enough to play but doesn't go overboard with complexity. Let's leave that to dedicated FC sites.

Alright:

Some features could be:

Trump batsmen and bowler who score double points, And you have to choose at least 5 members from each country.

Richards got the nail on the head however...It does warrant its own forum

I'm pleased FC has got its own forum now. Suggestions? The best I can think right now, is to try and retain the beauty of its simplticity, if it gets too complex, that might turn people away.

Please give me your feedback

I've looked at a few different FC games and I think we can keep ours relatively simple to operate by not permitting transfers during a series. A series should not combine Test matches and ODIs as team selection varies. Reserve players can be chosen to give you the best chance of scoring points from 11 players.

Points will be awarded and deducted as follows:

Fielding:
Each catch taken by a wicketkeeper +5
Each catch taken by another fielder +10

Each stumping +15
Each runout +15 as follows: a direct hit +15; OR, +10 to the fielder for the return throw and +5 for removing the bails.

Bowling:
A wicket that results from a catch or stumping +20
A wicket that results from a bowled or lbw +30
Each 5 runs conceded -1

Batting:
Each run scored +1
Each duck -30 for batsmen, -15 for wicketkeeper and all-rounders (does not apply to players listed as bowlers)

Your captain will score double points (including minus points) at all times.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A Series cannot include both Test matches and ODIs. A FC competition can only be started with a minimum of 5 players. The competition organiser may enter the same competition as long as they post their team in a thread before the cut-off date for submitting a team.

The organiser must list players in the following categories: batsmen, bowlers, all rounders, wicketkeepers.

Managers must select from categories:
Test matches: 5 batsmen, 1 wicket keeper, 1 all-rounder, 4 bowlers
ODI matches: 5* batsmen, 1 wicket keeper, 2 all-rounders, 4* bowlers (* Manager can choose whether to drop a batsman or bowler)

Managers must select reserves in the order in which they want them chosen as replacements. Replacements must be like-for-like. 3 batsmen, 2 wicket-keepers, 2 all-rounders, 3 bowlers.

The Manager cannot make transfers during the series. To add an extra skill element the Manager must select a captain to receive double points and 4 other players to receive bonus points. The bonus points apply to a performance in a single innings. Therefore, in a Test match, a player who scores a century in each innings would get 30 bonus points per innings. The bonus points are:

Batting:
50+ runs - 10 bonus points
75+ runs - 20 bonus points
100+ runs - 30 bonus points

Bowling:
3 wickets - 10 bonus points
4 wickets - 20 bonus points
5 wickets - 30 bonus points
--------------------------------------------------------------
If you have any suggestions which could improve the game please add to this thread as I'd like to begin developing this module soon.

I'd think this is a good way forward.

Question

Hi I'm the one developing the FC system, I have a question about the scoring (not knowing much about Cricket)...

Are there just 2 types of scores? - Runs and Wickets?

Thanks

Hi SirAdrian,

Each player that actually plays in the match will have a number of ways to score points:

The creator should enter the match data in two ways: either check a box to indicate an event eg an appearance is worth 1 point; a duck (out without scoring any runs) can be checked to indicate -30 points; bonus points; and captain.

Absolute values must be typed in for number of runs scored; number of wickets taken; number of catches, number of runouts. This is a complicated part of the game and I haven't got time to go into detail right now.

Points are for individual players, yes?

If so, I will need to know what fields to set up for scoring (the events). I'm guessing there are appearances, ducks, runs, wickets, catches, and runouts. The points resulting from these is irrelevant for now.

If I am wrong let me know.

That's right, that would be a start and the points are mentioned in my post above. Post #4.
