| You mean that each manager has effectively to field the same eleven players for a whole series? That is, a sub can be used for the whole series, but not for individual matches? (Doesn't matter either way - just want to be sure that I understand: in effect, this would be pretty much the same as when Richard was running the game on his Excel sheet, except that ex post substitutions could be made by the game creator if a manager was unlucky enough to have selected a player who didn't actually play at all in the series.)

| The only fair way that I can see of dealing with this - i.e. a way that can be equally applied to all entrants - is to score only at the end of the series. Where a manager has picked a player who does not play all through the series, that player can be substituted, with substitutes being taken in the order that they are presented by the manager - so, if a bowler doesn't play all series, he should be substituted by reserve bowler 1, or reserve bowler 2, etc., in order (proceeding down the reserve list until you find the first one who actually played). I'm not sure how much work this would make for the creator though: it seems very complicated to me. As far as Ern's players not scoring are concerned, well, as long as they play at some point, failure to score is just tough luck, isn't it? I'm not sure you should substitute even a non-player after only one match: the sub may only show up for that one match and the replaced player could then appear in every other match in the series. Trouble with my suggestion is that it actually becomes impossible to score the series until it finishes since first match scores could be changed after the series ends if a non-scorer in that match eventually turns out to be a no-show and is then substituted retrospectively. I haven't got an answer to that one. I think Richard's solution using his Excel sheet was simply to allow no subs! We've certainly moved on and complicated things here!

| Due to the limitations of the system it would be wise not to pick fringe players in your first X1. If they play just one match they can't be swapped out. Pick regular players who are likely to play the most matches and use the fringe players as reserves. Just a suggestion. It can be very costly to go through a series where some players in your team are only playing one or two matches.

| Submitting a match report You can tell that the report has been submitted successfully when the players names become links indicating that you are in viewreport instead of reportmatch. In reportmatch each data field has a rectangular cell. This is not the case when you are in viewreport. When reportmatch is saved successfully it redirects to viewreport to enable you to check that you've inputted your data correctly and edit the players scores where necessary. That's why in viewreport you see a note: "To edit your report, click on the player whose statistics you wish to edit." if you try to submit the same report more than once an error message will popup to say that it has already been saved. Please let me know if you want either myself or another person to score any of the matches. To score a match they must be able to see "Score Match X" in viewgame otherwise they can't access the reportmatch form. I need to change a setting in the admin cp to give them viewing access to that link.
