| So you want to try creating a contest... OK; bear in mind the following things 1) You need to consider a match or series between two opponents as opposed to several series. This is because substitutions will be done by the creator. No one else can edit the teams. Make sure the contest you want to run isn't already in progress! 2) If as a creator you want to edit a team PM the player with your reasons. It's their team after all. 3) Once the deadline for registrations is up you can start scoring The Scoring System You need a minimum of 5 teams in the game otherwise the game will automatically be "abandoned". A Creator may register a team but I advise them to submit their team to a non-playing member via PM before the cut-off date to avoid allegations of cheating should they win the game. After the cut-off date has passed the Creator can view and edit other teams and score the Match Report when the match has finished. The Match Report will have column headers which can display a description when the mouse hovers over it. R__RO*__RO**__RO ***__S__C *__C **__W *__W **__D *__D **__R C R = Runs Scored: +1 for each run scored. Enter # of runs. RO* = Run Out: +5 to the player who removes the bails. Enter # of occurrences. RO** = Run Out: +10 to the fielder for the return throw. Enter # of return throws. RO *** = Run Out: +15 to the fielder for a direct hit. Enter # of direct hits. S = Stumping: +15 to the wicketkeeper. Enter # of stumpings. C* = Catch: +5 for a catch taken by a wicketkeeper. Enter # of catches. C** = Catch: +10 for a catch taken by a fielder or bowler. Enter # of catches. W* = Wicket: +20 for a wicket that results from a catch or stumping. Enter # of wickets. W** = Wicket: +30 for a wicket that results from a bowled or lbw. Enter # of wickets. D* = Duck: -15 for wicketkeepers and all-rounders only. Enter # of ducks. D** = Duck: -30 for batsmen (bowlers excluded). Enter # of ducks. RC = Runs Conceded: -1 for every 5 runs conceded by any bowler. Enter # of runs conceded. The system will calculate the penalty. These reports can be viewed by anyone once they have been scored and can be edited by a creator if someone spots an error. The system scores for you, don't worry about maths. Use a score sheet from a reliable source. (bbc /cricinfo etc) 4) Substitions for injury. As a creator you can edit a team. If a player is injured and a player requests a replacement you can consider it but ensure that the player they want to swap is genuinly injured and that the swap is in the list of replacement players. Point out that any points scored by the injured player dissapear and that if the injured player returns you won't re-replace him . 5) Substitutions for zero points. If a manager picks a player who is in the squad but doesn't play and hence doen't score any points then the creator can PM a manager and offer a substitue from the reserves. If a manager picks a player not in the squad then you can offer to change also, but use discretion. After all, it could be construed as bad managment. 6) Start a contest once you are sure of the squads and use the squad listings to select the players. The players you select are used by managers to pick thier teams so ensure you check that the player is a batsman/bowler/allrounder/keeper. if you're not sure, check or ASK. PM me or a mod. You could check on Cricinfo or the BBC or other cricket sites. If a player you want to use isn't on the list, PM admin or me 7) Remember being a contest creator can be fun, but is also a responsibility on your part. You have to enter the data and ensure it's correct. You have to ensure the contest is kept up to date and that matches are entered as soon as possible. If you enter a team of your own, MAKE SURE you pm it to me/Admin/someone you trust in case of allegations of cheating. DON'T be tempted to change your own team. 8) Scoring looks complex but doesn't take that long for odi's ( around 30 mins max.) If you need help, ask Admin/me 9) Your contest will only happen if more than 5 players enrol. Remember to open a thread on the fantasy board for players to post their teams and for you to post squad news, information and updates. 10) Have fun. Anyone with a minimum of 50 posts can be a creator. That was the idea anyway. It's your contest, so don't be afraid of making up your own rules. I hope this helps!! http://www.world-a-team.com/fantasy-...p?do=userguide is an excellent guide also.
