I'm not too convinced that Astle (bat 37.81, bowl 42.93) or Styris (bat 39.77, bowl 52.56) are all-rounders? Styris only has 16 wickets!!

Vettori must be just as close (bat 22.39, bowl 35.65) or Franklin (bat 15.23, bowl 28.70)

Contrast these with Jacob Oram (bat 43.56, bowl 36.02) or Heath Streak (bat 23.90, bowl 28.13).

I know with the Kiwis it can be tough to say who is and who isn't an all-rounder, but taking Oram and Streak as examples, I don't think Astle or Styris' bowling is good enough - especially Styris who only has 16 wickets. On the other hand, Vettori isn't that far off Streak, who is rightfully considered an all-rounder.

Hi Andy, I chose Astle and Styris as all-rounders for a couple of reasons:

1. I already had enough batsmen ie 11.

2. I wanted a bigger list of all-rounders to ensure that most people don't choose the same all-rounder. Astle may not get a bowl but he may make enough runs to score better than Streak's batting and bowling combined.

The fact that Astle and Styris are not in the batting list also opens up the possibility of one or two Zimbabwe batsmen being chosen. It will be pretty boring if every team just contains New Zealand players.

Vettori could be chosen as a bowler or all-rounder but since I already had enough all-rounders I decided to put him in the bowling category.

At the end of the day, it is the call of the game creator which category he/she puts the players.

Hi Andy, using a similar example, you could put Glenn McGrath in the batsmen list. Now the managers still have to choose 4 bowlers from the bowlers list. If they also choose McGrath from the batsmen list they have effectively chosen 5 bowlers. That's permissible as long as the manager thinks that McGrath will score more points for them with his bowling, batting and fielding than a batsmen who doesn't bowl.

Rankings after Match 1

The leader after Match 1 is Mike. Looks like most of the point scoring in this series will be done by New Zealand players in this one-sided contest.
Code:
Mike 1304
the blue red devil 874
Andy Mellon 859
Paoli69 834
trissik 791

Andy Blignaut

Since the news of Andy Blignaut's injury came very late after the cut-off I have decided to swap the reserve player in. If you have Andy Blignaut in your team I'll replace him with your first reserve all-rounder when I score the 2nd match.

Final Rankings:

Before reserves swapped:
Code:
Mike 2430
Andy Mellon 1854
Paoli69 1809
the blue red devil 1695
trissik 1606
The only Manager to have a reserve swapped into their team is trissik whose original all-rounder Andy Blignaut was unavailable for selection. I swapped in his first reserve Heath Streak which added 121 points to his total. Although Jacob Oram and Paul Wiseman didn't play they were available for selection as far as I know. Therefore, these players weren't swapped.

Final scores:
Code:
Mike 2430
Andy Mellon 1854
Paoli69 1809
trissik 1727
the blue red devil 1695
Mike is a comfortable winner thanks to some of the Managers handicapping themselves by selecting Heath Streak as their Captain. Will they make the same mistake when Zimbabwe take on India? Click here to see the results page.
