| Mashrafe Mortaza is out If you have selected Mashrafe Mortaza in your team then you need to edit your team to swap in another player. I won't be swapping in reserves if you have selected him because plenty of advance notice has been given concerning his withdrawal from the Test series due to injury. Click here to see the article.

| Thanks Maranello. Years ago I was an avid follower of horse racing and studied the form to try and pick winners. I take the same approach in these fantasy games. Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have played a Test series before which was a one-sided contest. Presuming that Sri Lanka would bat once and bowl twice I decided to fill my team with mainly Sri Lankan players. Muralitheran and Vass were successful last time against Bangladesh so I made Murali captain and Vass was chosen as a bonus player assuming that these two bowlers would take a large share of the twenty wickets per match. My other three bonus player choices were off the mark though. Generally I stay with in-form or established players for my bonus players which is why I ignored Samaraweena and Dilshan. Dilshan has a poor overall record and his previous series against the West Indies was also poor. Samaraweena has a good overall record but had a poor series against the West Indies. So I stayed with the class of Jayasuriya, Sangakkara and Jayawardene but they had an average series by their standards. Luckily for me bconnor's team included a couple of players who didn't play in the series otherwise the result may have been different. That is the other part of the game I think about when selecting my team. To get as many points as possible it's important to choose players who are likely to play in every match. bconnor thought Russel Arnold and Tapash Baisya would play whereas I didn't. That was enough of an advantage for me to finish ahead. Last edited by Mike : 22-09-2005 at 02:00 PM. |
