ICC Champions Trophy - Your Thoughts?

To all Fantasy Cricket managers, I would like your thoughts on the structure of the Fantasy Cricket game(s) for the ICC Champions Trophy.

Firstly, this will be good practice for the world cup, where there will have to be many games scored in short spaces of time.

I want all of your views on how we structure our own games.

The basic structure of the tournament itself is:

1) Qualifying round
2) Group Stages
3) Semi finals
4) Final

There is plenty of opportunity for diversity of how make the fantasy cricket games.
  • We could an overall game, in which every possible player can be selected and points are accounted for the whole tournament - This would require multiple scorers due to the high number of games, the number I am not sure of but there would certainly be at least 5 scorers.
  • A seperate game for each stage - this would mean that registration periods would be quite short so managers would have to be on their toes.
  • Only take certain stages, possibly ignore the qualifying round as this phase of the competition appeals less to you, and the interest may be low.
If you agree with any of these ideas please say so, if you have any of your own ideas then bring them to the party post them on this thread. All ideas will be treated the same and all will be discussed.

I suggest:

A game for stage 1, a game for stage 2, then a game for stages 3 and 4 combined to make the semis and final a package and more of a challenge for playing members to get right. Stage 2 certainly needs to be separate as it is the most congested part.

I agree, there are going to be two groups, this can immediately be split down into two seperate games I feel.

With all of the games so close together I would like to rotate the members who score the games:

Stage 1: 2 members can rotate the scoring (6 games between them)

Stage 2: 4 members can rotate the scoring (2 groups, 6 games in each)

Stage 3/4: 1 member can do the scoring, a member who has not previously scored either stage 1 or 2.

Does any member disagree with this or have any other ideas?

There is a qualifying round which West Indies.Sri Lanka,Bangladesh and Zimbabwe will play matches and two of them in the group stages. It would be a good idea to include players from all the teams except those teams which have to qualify.

We should score only the stats from the other 6 teams.

Why do you think that Karthik?

Managers won't gain any kind of advantage in choosing players from the qualifying rounds as the qualifying round itself will be scored on its own.

I mean don't even select them from the player list.Otherwise managers who selected players from the other 2 teams which don't qualify won't get any points.

I think you have misunderstood how the games will work.

The qualifying round will be scored just as a qualifying round, no points will be carried through to the league stage from the qualifying round.
