It looks like we may be rebuilding the fantasy cricket game from scratch or at least making major improvements. If you have any suggestions or ideas be sure to post them here.

Richard Jenkins suggested in another thread that it would be good if the Player Page included the player's role in the team, ie batsman, all-rounder, wicketkeeper or bowler. This means Game Creators don't need to spend time researching what roles various players perform within a given squad. So, when a player is selected in the squad they automatically appear in the correct role.

I like this idea but I think it should include the option to change a role when the game is created. Some Game Creators might prefer a certain player to be listed as an all-rounder rather than a bowler, for example.

The Manager Stats page never worked because the final rankings, ie 1st, 2nd or 3rd never was input into the User table like it was supposed to do. I'd like to see that fixed. A further option would be to allow a manager to click a link to see a list of games they finished 1st in etc.

The Player's page is getting quite large because retired players are are greyed out but still remain on the page. Can retired players be moved automatically across to a different page which gives us the option to un-retire them or send them to permanent retirement which means they even disappear from the "retirement" page?

Is it possible to allow other members to create reports without giving them the same editing permissions as the game creator? This would allow the mundane scoring duties to be shared by a number of people.

I have a suggestion.

When selecting players from the list for the game the player names should be categorized according to countries for examples first all players of Australia then south africa and So on... With this it will be easy to select players from the list by just going to countries players rather than see full list to find players. Also it will help to solve another confusion of same names As Abdul Razzak of Bangladesh and Abdul Razzaq of Pakistan.

The big thing here seems to be ease of use, so I'll make a note of really focusing on that.

OK, so the ability to tag each player with a (or a few) positions. Editable, of course.

Yeah, I know a much better way of going about it this time, so everything is recorded and it gives you more stats to look at.

Sure. I think a display options section at the bottom would be good too, where you can...

1) View by page
2) Show retired players
3) Sort by position (first) rather than name
4) Etc. Be creative

Yes - I will do whatever I can to make reporting the matches much easier. Even while testing I remember it being a pain. Would this be on a per-game basis, or simply a usergroup?

Possible for sure. We can tie this into what I said above about sorting by player position and display options.


Keep it coming guys. I could even chip in but I can't find a live copy of the software anywhere.

I suggest making it a usergroup so we can have a pool of volunteers to score one or two matches per FC game. I think it would be helpful to display the list of members in that usergroup somewhere ( much like the "View Leaders" page linked from the Home Page) so that game creators know who is available to score a match.

been a bit slow here.
As I said at the beginning

1) put players into country pools (eng,nz,aus,wi,pak,ind,sa,sl,zim,ire,neth,ken,bang ,(etc))
2) give players a tag (bat,bowl,keep,allrounder,other (please note))


I agree with having a usergroup to test this (and would welcome being in that group)
I think if possible this game should aim to 'go live' in time for the 20 20 world cup.
