Question to admin: Online / Offline

Just a query.

I have seen this feature on other vBulletin powered forums, in fact every other forum I have ever been on, and wondered if it would be available here. It is nothing fancy, just says whether a member is online or not in their miniprofile next to their posts.

It is a much underated feature I think, saves you from having to go back to the hompage all the time to see if the person you are replying to is still online or not.

Here is an example of it on a vBulletin powered forum : click here.
You will notice that it says 'On' or 'Off' at the bottom of the miniprofiles referring to whether they are online or not.

LRB,

You will notice that there is a small light next to everybody's name on the top of their post. When a person is online that light is green, when they are not then the light is blank. Additionly to that you can go to the 'quick links' drop down menu and select 'who's online', to go to a screen which will tell you not only if anybody is online but also what that person is doing.

The version with the ON/OFF icon is the latest version of this software which is 3.0.7. Our version is an earlier version 3.0.3 which has the lamp next to the name which is green when that member is online. I like the lamp actually. Adds colour to the page. I have stopped upgrading the software because this board is heavily hacked with extra features and every upgrade requires re-doing the hacks which is very time-consuming not to mention that some hacks may not work with later versions. The downside with not upgrading is that eventually the technical support will stop for this version. For one reason or another eventually we'll be forced to migrate to a later version.

What is hacking? I have a ProBoards site and my definition of that would be using scripts written either by myself or volunteers that sort of hack into the boards software to add features to it that the actual software doesn't have itself. Is that the same for vBulletin?
