Occasionally, posts are reported due to misunderstanding the intent of the sender. For example, a playful dig said face-to-face amongst friends can be easily identified as harmless fun but the same words expressed as a written comment on a board may easily be misinterpreted as an unfriendly swipe. So I have added a few more smileys and changed the titles of others to allow a broader range of expression with less ambiguity. Please take a look at our collection of smilies here and let me know whether you think we need to add more or change their titles to something more meaningful.

Could these Post Icons be made emoticons?

I quite often see thumbs up and down emoticons used on other forums and they can be quite effective.

Thanks for the suggestion, Rob. We can certainly trial it. The main use of emoticons is to avoid misunderstanding. To say "That was a great innings" followed by a "thumbs up" image is repeating what was just said. It doesn't clarify what was said. We could have dozens of emoticons to add colour to a post but images puts more strain on the server and could slow download speed of threads. I'll think it over.
