Occasionally new members join to post their own website URL on this board. Some will post their website link on multiple forums which we regard as spamming.

If you see this happening please report it.

To combat this I have created a sub-forum of the Help and Feedback forum called Advertised Links. Non-members who wish to advertise their website will be directed to post there instead of joining and spamming the board with multiple posts.

Once a URL appears in Advertised Links it will be added to the censored words list so that further attempts to post the same URL will be replaced with asterisks - eg www.**********

I hope these measures will reduce the incidence of spamming in future.

I have also added the following paragraph to Message to Guests which is displayed to non-members when viewing the forum home page:

Do you wish to advertise your website?

This board is for people with a genuine interest in participating in cricket discussions. We discourage people who join simply to advertise their own websites. If this is your intention please don't register as a member. We have provided a sub-forum to the Help and Feedback forum called Advertised Links. If your website is cricket-related please post the URL there. If you join and spam the board with your URL your posts will be deleted and you may be banned. I hope you'll be understanding in this matter.
