Passion for cricket or Sheer madness?

News

"India's loss to Pakistan in the BCCI Platinum Jubilee match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Saturday allegedly prompted a young doctor to kill himself"

Now this is taking one's passion too far - I have posted before about this happening routinely whenever India lose important matches, but it is nonetheless very sad whenever it does happen.

It is only a game y'know.

Red face Madness

I Think This Is Madness At Its Extreme. Games Should Be Played As Games And With Sportsmanship. One Has To Win And One Has To Lose. But It Is Madness To Lose Life For Game

Both Pakistani and Indian fans take the games too seriously - the intense rivalry can certainly reach great heights not only on the pitch but in the fans' hearts and minds...It is indeed a game afterall and one team has to win, and the other lose. It is not a matter of life or death. The interest and love of the game shouldn't blind the viewer too much - as most of the times, fans need to be moderate.

Its madness for sure. What really confirms it for me is the lack of support for the domestic competition, the Indian fans really are there just for the hype, theyre totally obsessed with the sport.

To tell u the truth the pathetic situation at the domestic level can also be blamed on the BCCI for not doing enough(rather anything) to popularise the domestic matches.Ditto 4 the media.

One more sad thing is the plight of the pitches.Really appalling! No wonder India's strength in spin not pace bowling.Full credit to Irfan and Zaheer for making it this far.

Yeah I agree, its made more obvious with Pakistan being able to develop really good fast bowlers, despite similar conditions. This is the main reason we don't perform that great overseas.
