Nayan Mongia announces retirement

http://usa.cricinfo.com/db/ARCHIVE/C...22DEC2004.html

My thoughts:
The way he was treated by the Indian cricket board is deplorable! He is (or is it was?) one of India's safest hands. To add to his agony, they denied him to end his career gracefully.Very unfortunate!

Exactly!I mean India has been trying out quite a few blokes like Parthiv,Ratra,Kaarthick, etc. but none of them can even dream of matching Mongia.that guy was unparalleled.

I sat out with Nayan Mongia to get this exclusive

Hey ppl, 10 days back Baroda were playing Hyderabad and I got to talk with Nayan Mongia. He actually had a swollen right thumb after getting injured while batting. He gave me an exclusive interview and I suspect that was the last interview he has given to any1. Here is the link for the interview : http://www.cricketfundas.com/nayanmongiainterview.html

Good read that, thanks for the link. I agree very much on the bit where he say a wicket keeper's job is a thankless one, and how one of the biggest demands of the this job is to know and real the game well..trying to keep track of what the bowler will bowl and things like what the batsmen's attentions are.

Fascintaing read that all in all. Thank you once again. I enjoyed reading it.

I agree too, the problem with India is that we depend too much on our keepers to bat well, not so much their actual wicket-keeping skills.
