Anyhow, my test side is:

1. Aakash Chopra
2. Virender Sehwag
3. Rahul Dravid
4. Sachin Tendulkar
5. VVS Laxman
6. Sourav Ganguly
7. KKD Karthik
8. Anil Kumble
9. Irfan Pathan
10. Zaheer Khan
11. Harbajhan Singh

My odi team is:

1. Ganguly
2. Sehwag
3. Yuvraj
4. Tendulkar
5. Dravid
6. Kaif
7. Karthik
8. Harbhajan
9. Agarkar
10. Pathan
11. Khan

Not bad sides. Aakash needs to tie down one end and play with resillience that i personally dont mind. Agarkar gets a run in the ODI side as does Kaif and Yuvraj.
Thats a robust team you have picked!
I would totally go with that but only leaving out Akash and plugging in Gambhir or Dheeraj Jadav

I think Aakash was unfairly dealt with, because in Australia he did what he was told, then got dropped in Pakistan after a bad umpiring call for Yuvraj who is said to be 'just too talented to be left out'. We have a lot of strokemakers in the side, we need more cool heads.

Now I doubt we will ever see Chopra again.

I agree but

I agree with you, however, there are better players waiting for a call from the selecters than Chopra. Chopra has tendency to stay cool and play until the balls's shining is removed fairly. He does so manage to do that but doens't convert his 30's and 40's into huge totals!

So, to pick the best indian team, we need someone like chopra who also is capable of converting 40s to huge 100s.

But when you look at Indian cricket, we see vast wells of Sehwag-like players, and not enough Chopra-like players, if you see what im getting at. I think Chopra, despite a poor average, could have been given a bit more back up from the selectors.

We don't even need laxman anymore!
There are better players than Laxman who can perform when given the opportunity!
